In fifth grade, students take on more responsibilities as they prepare for middle school. They serve as "reading buddies" to a kindergarten student, begin Spanish classes, research and write a state, learn the seven sacraments, and manage and run a School Store with various school supplies available for purchase by other students.
The students also participate in the COPS program, learning personal safety from a Madison police officer. Fifth graders each get a turn throughout the year to be "Star of the Week," sharing photos and presenting them to the class, while classmates write each "Star" a letter.
Students have the opportunity to continue with band and have their second and final year of Jubilee Choir, which performs at school masses and during Catholic Schools Week. In fifth grade students also become eligible to participate in school sports.
