    Wednesday Envelope

Wednesday Envelope materials are your key communication link. Each Wednesday, documents for that date will be posted on the home page of the website. If the document is a form that needs to be filled out, that will be indicated. From time to time, a teacher may send home grade-specific information with your child. It is imperative that you visit the website to get the information needed and print out and return any required paperwork on Thursday morning (unless another date is indicated). If someone doesn't have internet access and needs hard copies of documents, please have them see Mrs. Stanek or Mr. Beisser. If a teacher has provided a new weekly update, that will be indicated on the home page as well.

Previous Week's Envelope
The Wednesday envelope materials will remain on the home page for one week. After that they will be posted here for one additional week.

Some Things to Think About:
If your correspondence includes a payment of any type, be sure to write what the payment is for in the attention line of your check, and either staple the check to the form, or put the form and the payment in an individual envelope clearly marked with what the payment is for. As stated above, our goal is to post all Wednesday envelope information/field trip forms/fundraising opportunities on the web, beginning with information that does not have to be returned (ie forms). Please stay tuned for more information.

Playground Duty
In an effort to ensure that all our St. Dennis students remain safe on the playground (or in the classrooms in case of rain!), our school relies on volunteers to monitor the students during their free time. Each school family is required to either (a.) monitor the playground 10 times a year, or (b.) Pay a specified fee at the beginning of the year in lieu of volunteering. Please read the instructions for indoor playground duty and general instructions for lunchroom supervisors.

Fanwear
Help show your St. Dennis School spirit by sporting clothing and accessories that proudly display our name! For questions, contact Mr. Randy Helgerson at the school - 246-5121. You may also print out this order form and turn your completed form with payment into the office, or e-mail your order to Sue Besler at suzybcu@sbcglobal.net and send in your payment to the office clearly marked "Fanwear Order Payment."

Fundraisers
Fundraising is an integral part of our school. Our Home & School Association, Athletics Committee and our school rely on the monies that are brought in through our fundraising efforts. With your help, we can continue to build the community in our school and Parish, as well as to reach our students’ educational and social needs.
Each year, the Home & School Association sponsors three fundraisers. The money raised from these efforts are not only used to sponsor wonderful annual events such as the Halloween Party, Craft Day, Catholic Schools Week, the Variety Show and Field Day, but also to purchase much-needed supplies and building improvements.

We also have available SPIRIT MAGNETS! Available for only $5 each, these magnets look great on a car, your frig, or your student's locker!

The start of the school year brings us our first fundraiser, the Magazine Sale. Please visit www.APHearst.com for more information on this sale.

Throughout the year, parents, staff and our parish support our second fundraiser, Market Day, by purchasing fantastic food at great prices. For more information, please visit (and order online!) www.marketday.com.

Third Fundraiser
The third Home & School fundraiser is the popular Trivia Knight. This event has been held in March in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Additional School Fundraisers
You can help out the school in some simple ways!
  • Collect “Box Tops for Education." Our student council sponsors class contests to collect Box Tops. Watch your Wednesday envelope for information. Please use this form to attach Box Tops before turning in.

  • Save your milk caps, then turn them in to Peggy Kiefer who will redeem them for money for our school hot lunch program.
  • Collect Campbells Soup Labels.
  • Use your Target charge card and specify that a portion of your purchase will go back to St. Dennis School. We’ve received more than $5,000 to date from this program!
  • Many stores such as Staples and Office Depot offer special rewards programs.
Check out your favorite stores to see if you can donate a portion of your purchases back to St. Dennis School.
  • Sponsor a Student program (Please contact Mr. Beisser for more information)
Athletics
The Athletics Department at St. Dennis is also extremely active. They, too, have three successful fundraisers every year. such as a tailgate party, 365-day raffle calendar and America's Best gift card sale. The money raised in Athletics’ fundraisers has been used for some wonderful capital projects including the new gym room floor and newly painted gym walls.

FAQ Section
Is there a 4-year-old kindergarten at St. Dennis?
Yes. St. Dennis offers a half-day four-year-old kindergarten program in the morning and starting with the 2010-2011 school year, there will be an afternoon 4K class as well. There is also an extended day option for the afternoon. For information, contact info@st-dennisschool.org.
Is the 5-year-old kindergarten full day?
Yes, kindergarten is full-day. For more information, contact info@st-dennisschool.org.

What time does school begin in the morning?

The first bell rings at 8:15, the second at 8:30. Students should arrive and be seated prior to 8:30.

How does the morning drop off work?

IMPORTANT MORNING DROP-OFF INFORMATION!! Students must be dropped off at the far end of the circle drive in front of the school - please WAIT until you reach the end of the drive for your children to exit your vehicle. Parents should not leave their vehicles to assist their children. If you wish to leave your vehicle or escort your child, park across the street or in the back. Please have your child(ren) ready to leave the vehicle as soon as you pull up to the drop-off zone. Students are to exit the vehicle via the right-hand side of the vehicle – or, the side closest to the school building; do NOT allow your child(ren) to exit your vehicle on the left side, into the driveway.

What time does school end, and how do I pick up my children?

School ends at 2:15 on Mondays (early release) and 3:15 Tuesday through Friday. Students are released from the school via the side doors at the far north end of the building, and are monitored by their teachers. Parents should line up behind the cones in the back parking lot, and wait for a teacher to tell them to proceed. Again, please be ready for your kids to enter your vehicle in order to keep the line moving quickly and smoothly.

Is the school security locked?

Yes! A key card for parents can be obtained by talking to office manager Mary Lou Stanek. If you don’t have a key card, you will need to enter the front doors of the school by activating an intercom system. Push the button and wait for a school administrator to answer and identify you prior to buzzing you into the school. All visitors must check-in at the office.

My child(ren) take the bus. How do I contact the bus company?

Our buses are run by the Kobussen Bus Company. Their phone number is (608) 825-8700. You must call the bus company if you do not need a pick-up.

I would love to donate needed supplies/equipment for the teachers. How can I find out what they need?

Please ask your children's teachers for suggestions or contact Mr. Beisser at 246-5121 for
a list of additional school needs. Thank you for your generosity!
