Colleen joins the St. Dennis School staff in the 2011-2012 school year, replacing Mrs. Joan Laessig, our former librarian who retired in 2011.
Colleen is originally from the Waukesha, Wisconsin area, attending Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha. She went on to the University of Wisconsin- Madison, where she earned undergraduate degrees in political science and history. Following graduation, she worked as a staff person for a state representative in the Wisconsin Assembly.
She returned to school and earned a law degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and worked as a lobbyist in the state Legislature for ten years. This included two years with the Wisconsin Catholic Conference, the public policy voice of Wisconsin's bishops.
Colleen began volunteering in the St. Dennis library in 2003, and helped bring the circulation program into the 21st century by bar-coding more than 8,000 books. She notes the schools impressive collection, due to the efforts of Mrs. Laessig and the countless volunteers and families who have supported the library.
Colleen and her husband, Jim, have three children: Patrick, a sophomore at Edgewood High School; and Mary Claire, an eighth grader, and Bridget, in 4K, both at St Dennis.
It should come as no surprise Colleen loves reading whenever she has spare time.
“I love the St Dennis community and I'm thrilled to be part of a professional, caring and dedicated staff,” says Colleen. “I'm grateful my children have been, and continue to be, educated in an environment where our Catholic tradition is part of every class, every day.”
