Emily joined St. Dennis as the school counselor in 2012. She will be at school on Mondays and Fridays during the 2014-2015 school year. As the school counselor, Emily offers support to students individually and in small groups. She serves as an advocate for students and can address issues related to school or home. She also visits elementary classrooms weekly and middle school classrooms biweekly to deliver developmental guidance lessons. Topics addressed include: managing anger, diversity, conflict resolution, protective behaviors, bullying prevention, career exploration, friendship skills, etc.
Emily grew up in Door County, WI and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from UWMadison and a master's degree in School Counseling from UW-Whitewater. Emily left her full-time school counseling job after she and her husband, Ryan, decided to expand their family. After taking a little time off, the opportunity to work part-time at St. Dennis came up and she jumped on the chance. Emily couldn't be more excited to work with amazing children, caring families, and a dedicated team. She finds it to be a great fit and appreciates the balance she receives from doing what she loves professionally with having time at home to care for her young children.
Emily and her husband have a daughter, Nora, who is three years old and a son, Graham, born in May, 2014. She and her family live in Madison. Emily enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and camping.
